How to Celebrate Pride this summer

The best events in London

Its Pride Month, get excited for a range of celebratory and bold events in London from dance parties and film screenings to activist workshops and protests!

London has a vibrant history of queer resilience, struggle, and joy, and participating in some of these unique cultural events this summer is a great way to support the community!

The London Pride Parade

Join London’s largest Pride celebration and protest on Saturday, July 4! The march will start at 12pm at Green Park by the Hyde Park Corner tube station and end in front of Big Ben. Some great spots to catch the action are at Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square!  The best part is the event is completely free and unticketed!

After the parade, the streets of Soho will be flooded with fun ticketed and free after-parties! Head to the Admiral Duncan at 2pm for all-day Cabernet and drag performances until 2am!

Queer Migrant Pride Fest

This event will hold a dual celebration of Refugee Week and Pride Month, joining folks together in pursuit of a “world without borders.” Expect an exciting and unique program of activities including wellbeing and activism workshops, clothes swaps, and screenings. Then head to the dance floor for DJ performances or Brazilian dance! The event is completely free and will be held at St. Margaret’s House in Bethnal Green, located at 21 Old Ford Road, from 12pm to 9:30pm.

Pride Month at The Arzner

The Arzner, London’s first queer cinema, will host a range of exclusive features and director Q&As this month in celebration of Pride. Catch new releases playing all month, followed by re-releases of iconic queer films. I am personally most excited for Erupcja, pop icon Charli XCX’s new sapphic film premiering this month! Tickets are £15, but students under 25 can purchase a membership for £30 per year, which includes 6 free tickets!

Foyles Pride Fest

This annual queer literary festival will be returning the weekend of June 27-28 at Foyles Charing Cross, hosting a wide range of popular author talks, book signings, and even DJs! Catch a spooky queer horror segment with author of Boy Parts and Penance, Eliza Clark, or listen in on Girls Interrupted, a lesbian literary spotlight featuring Elizabeth Lovatt and Chloe Michelle Howarth. Day tickets for students are £10, but you can attend individual segments for only £5!

20 Years of Black Pride

The UK’s first and only LGBTQ+ museum, the Queer Britain, opened its 20 Years of Black Pride exhibit on June 4th and is open for visitors until August 31. The exhibit, curated by founder Lady Phyll, features photos and mementos documenting the growth of the movement from its modest roots in Southend-on-Sea to today’s huge UK Black Pride festival. Although the festival is taking a break this year, check out their website for other events! The museum is located in King’s Cross at 2 Granary Square, and entrance is free, but asks for pay-as-you-can donations.

London Trans+ Pride Parade

Another parade reminding us of Pride’s roots in protest, the London Trans+ Pride Parade supporting trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming lives will be held on Saturday, July 25. The meeting point will be at Langham Place at 1pm, and anyone is encouraged to join, bring signs, and wear flowers! Find out more about the parade and how you can help support trans+ lives this month on their instagram.

Whether your thing is film, art, or comedy, London offers a plethora of fun activities to celebrate Pride this summer! Not only is attending a great way to show solidarity, but also a chance to meet LGBTQ+ folks in London and build community!
