At this point, it would be harder not to have seen the LSE Halls Survey.
And yet… the other day I saw that over 80% of hall students haven’t filled it in yet. EIGHTY PERCENT!
If you are one of the EIGHTY PERCENT, I hope this article will convince you to do it once and for all.
First, if you haven’t done it, I’m guessing you might be thinking something like: “They’re not actually going to do anything with it.”
But here’s the thing: your voice genuinely matters. This isn’t like leaving a Google review where the goal is to make the halls look good online. Your responses aren’t public and they’re not for marketing, they’re for the halls teams themselves, so they can understand what’s actually working and what isn’t.
Think about it. If they’re putting in the effort to plaster QR codes everywhere, post reminders on Instagram, and organise roadshows in the halls, it’s probably because they actually want to know what residents think.
Plus, they will have received an email explaining what will happen next after the feedback they received
so you know that feedback from residents actually leads to things changing in halls. Here you can see a screenshot of the email I got as a Robeson House resident (somehow my Latin sixth sense tells me you haven’t read it).
Another common excuse might be: “I don’t have time.”
But the survey takes about 7 minutes. Seven! That’s basically half a TikTok scrolling session. The time you spend waiting for your pasta to cook. The time between arriving at class and the lecturer starting. A quarter of the bus ride. Or the time you spend pretending to study before actually starting.
In other words, you definitely have time. It’s quick and easy, so just do it.
If after all this you’re still not convinced, well, everyone will get a prize. Everyone.
Seven minutes for a prize is quite a good deal, so if I were you I wouldn’t miss it. And if you fill in the survey and don’t get your prize right away, breathe for a minute and summon your patience, because you won’t get it immediately. It will arrive at the end of the week, but it will arrive, which is the important thing.
I’ve added another screenshot from one of the many emails you probably haven’t read showing the potential prize. I’m clearly praying for the polo shirt, so I hope you’re also manifesting on my behalf.
So next time you walk past one of those QR codes (which will probably be in about three minutes), just scan it and fill it in.
Your future halls experience, and your FREE PRIZE, will thank you.
