LSE maintains several beehives on the roof at Connaught House to boost urban biodiversity and sustainability. LSESU Beekeeping Society regularly takes care of them alongside professional beekeepers, and these hives produce honey sold on campus. It's a key engagement tool for sustainability, showing the role of bees in food production.
LSESU Beekeeping Society🐝
The Society is all about raising awareness of the necessity of bees for the environment, taking care of them and having fun. The hives were financed by the LSE Sustainable Projects Fund and are open for all staff and students who are interested in learning about urban beekeeping and discovering the world of bees. The Society organises talks, trips, film screenings and an annual LSE honey tasting!
✨ Fun fact: The hives were featured in the Netflix documentary starring Zac Effron, "Down to Earth"! ✨
