It's time to put all of that hard work to the test with exam season...
To make sure that you're as prepared as possible, we've put together some top tips on how to conquer those exams!
Revision is obviously the most important. As the famous Benjamin Franklin once said, 'by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail' so you need to put the work in. Starting in advance means that you can memorise as much as possible, test yourself and feel confident sitting your exams.
TOP TIP: Reciting things out loud can help you memorise information better.
Sleep is SO important. Lack of sleep can make you feel unmotivated, drained and unproductive - not what you need during the exam period! Getting enough hours of sleep a night can improve your memory, increase creativity and boost productivity. Try going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day to get your body into a routine and prepared for those early exam starts.
TOP TIP: 7-9 hours of sleep is the recommended amount that you should be getting each night.
Diet is an essential around exam time and can affect your mood and motivation more than you might think. Make sure you aren't eating foods that will make you feel sluggish as this will demotivate you. Healthy food will give you the nutrients you need to power through those revision sessions and provide you with enough energy to get through those exams!
TOP TIP: Eating plenty of salmon, tuna, and other fish has even been shown to stimulate brain cell growth.
Exercise is a great way to spend your breaks - take yourself off for a run or pop down to the gym. Exercising can improve brain performance and triggers endorphins to make you feel good. Not only does it give you more energy but it can also boost your mood so there's double the rewards. This will make you feel more motivated to revise and also gives you a well-deserved break from those textbooks.
TOP TIP: Having an exercise buddy can encourage you to exercise.
Having a healthy mind is linked to success. Limiting your time socialising with friends and going out until you have finished your revision can help you feel more focused and improve your mood. The exam period can be a stressful time so it's definitely a good idea to reward yourself after all of your hard work. Remember, if you're struggling with exam stress we have lots of wellbeing services to help you feel better and get back on track.
TOP TIP: Before bed, meditate or read a book instead of scrolling through social media to clear your mind.
