Parks to visit in London

By Halls 24 Apr 2024

No matter the weather there are so many great parks at your fingertips!

As a student, you are always on the lookout for freebies and a bit of nature when you're in the big city is a blessing.  London has some of the best free parks on offer where you can go for scenic walks, activities or just chill in the sunshine.

Located in the heart of London, this is a popular space for a bit of exercise or a meet-up with your mates. It's one of London's royal parks meaning the history is protected and there are lots of free events hosted within its many acres. Open 5 am till midnight, there's a lake, and a meadow and expect to see plenty of ducks.

The park with easily the most going on, located not too far from the centre (about four miles) and open 24/7 for the public, you should definitely not miss out on the wild beauties and fun of this park. You can take a dip in one of the many swimming ponds if you're brave enough!

Get the best view of the river Thames from one of the oldest parks in the city. The park is home to herds of red and fallow deer which are truly a sight to behold if you get the chance to spot them. Most of these parks will have cafes or pubs where you can grab a quick bite to eat between sightseeing. Open 6 am till 6 pm.

A large Victorian park, it has a gorgeous riverside promenade perfect for jogging by, a huge lake and you can even rent boats in the summer. Look out for all the beautiful fountains, perfect for a cheeky photoshoot. Open 8 am until dusk (so not open at night when it's dark).

A mixture of large open spaces and tree-lined paths and a massive sports area to get your game on. There's also Queen Mary's garden which has over 12,000 roses in it! Get the best view of the city from Primrose Hill which has a low treeline so you can see miles. Open 5 am - 6 pm.

And plenty more!

Those were some of the top picks but there are lots of other options that might be closer by or have events on that tickle your fancy. Read more about all the major parks in London or check out the video below for a more in-depth look at some of the best ones.
