Missed Dinner?

Best Practices for Getting Your Meal in LSE Halls 🍽️

If you’re living in catered halls at LSE, missing a dinner now and then can happen. But don’t worry! Each hall has a simple system in place to make sure you don’t miss out on your meal. Here are the best practices for ensuring you get your dinner even if you can't make it to the restaurant during service hours.

Bankside House

At Bankside, you can request a late meal by filling out a logbook, ideally the night before. However, if necessary, you can still fill it out on the same day when the restaurant opens. Here's what you need to do:

  • Bring your container: You’ve already been given a food container, but if you need a replacement, just request one.
  • Don’t email: Same-day requests via email can easily be missed. Be sure to use the book in the restaurant to make your request.
  • Pickup flexibility: If you can’t pick up your meal by 21:15, a friend can collect it for you, just make sure they have your container.

Avoid leaving your container with reception as it may not be passed to the dining staff on time.

Passfield Hall

Passfield Hall operates similarly, with a physical logbook for booking late meals:

  • Book ahead: Ideally, fill out the logbook in the restaurant the day before. You can also make a request in the afternoon once the team is on-site.
  • Bring your container: Don’t forget your food container when making your booking.
  • Pickup flexibility: If you can’t collect your meal, you can nominate someone to pick it up for you.

The team will prepare your food during service and leave it ready for collection.

Rosebery Hall

Rosebery offers two ways to request a late meal:

  1. Physical logbook: Just like Bankside and Passfield, use the logbook in the restaurant the day before and pick up your meal by 21:00.
  2. Email option: You can also email the dining team (Gladys, Yetunde, or the front office) to request a late meal and nominate a friend to collect it with your container.

General Tips

  • Always bring your food container when requesting a late meal—this is the key to ensuring you get your dinner.
  • Plan ahead when possible and fill out the logbook the day before, but if you're in a pinch, don't hesitate to make a same-day request during restaurant hours.
  • If you can’t pick up your meal, nominate a friend to help you out!

These systems are in place to make sure everyone gets their meal, so follow the guidelines to ensure you’re never left hungry! 🍽️
