It’s the end of June… some of you are done with LSE, while others (like me) are still writing dissertations until August, and YES, it is nerve wracking. BUT, CAN WE PLEASE FOCUS ON THE FACT THAT IT IS SUMMER IN LONDON? I am sooo ready to enjoy summer in this incredible city, and I HOPE YOU ARE TOO! Can we please make the most of living in London this summer? If it’s your first London summer, or if you are looking for new activities - here is a cute guide for you.
Music in London 🎶🎸🎷
Did you know that London hosts over 50 music festivals every summer? I honestly believe there is at least one festival that will pique your interest from this list:
- BTS Hyde Park: a massive festival that takes place in Hyde Park. Big names for this year are Pitbull, Maroon 5, Mumford & Sons, and Lewis Capaldi.
- All Points East: this R&B, pop and hip-hop festival takes place in Victoria Park. You could see Tyler the Creator and Lorde there this year.
- Lido Festival: an artist-led festival, where each headliner curates their own day. I am going to see Bombay Bicycle Club there this year.
- Jazz Café: a vibrant outdoor celebration taking place in Burgess Park with genres including jazz, soul, funk, and R&B. This year's headliner is Ari Lennox.
- Waterworks: an independent festival taking place at The Cause, with genres including house, techno, breaks, and bass music.
- Piano People in the Park: a one-day festival dedicated to amapiano and Afro house. Kelvin Momo and MFR Souls are 2026 headliners.
Parks in London 🌳🌷🐛
I honestly believe that there is nothing better than having a picnic, with your friends, under the sun, in one of the beautiful London parks (so wholesome)! Here are some parks you might have not heard of before:
- Hampstead Heath: this is huge park, North of London, with these magical ponds you can swim in. There is a mixed pond, a female one and a male one.
- Holland Park: this is located East of Kensington Gardens, and it is right next to the Design Museum (100% my favourite museum in London)!
- King’s Stairs Garden: located in Bermondsey, very near Southwark Park (which is also a slay), and right next to the River Themes.. Primrose Hill: right by Regent’s Park, is a must go to place to see the sunset.
- Potters Fields Park: it is literally right next to Tower Bridge and right on the River Themes. It is a Londoner’s favourite place to watch the sunset.
- Primrose Hill: right by Regent’s Park, is a must go to place to see the sunset
Unique Touristy Sites 🏰🎡🏙️
I am sure that we are know the touristy spots in London (Big Ben, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Shard, Buckingham Palance, Westminster Abbey), but do you know these low-key gems?
- Sky Garden: I am fascinated by the amount of vegetation on the 37th floor. The best way to describe this place is a greenhouse, floating in the sky.
- Columbia Flower Market, Broadway Market and the Hackney City Farm: this is somewhere I take all my friend who visit me in London. You will find the cutest coffee shops, beautiful flowers and cute vendors selling one-of-a-kind pieces.
- Little Venice to Camden Town: a beautiful 2-mile walk along the Regent's Canal, passing sweet houseboats, the London Zoo, and converted warehouses before arriving at the buzzing Camden Lock and its famous market.
- Uber Board by Thames: this is London's river bus service that lets you hop on and off at 24 piers along the Thames, passing iconic landmarks like Tower Bridge, the London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament.
- The Garden at 120: this is London's largest free rooftop garden, located on Fenchurch Street in the City. Sitting 15 storeys up, it offers 360-degree views of the skyline and features 85 Italian wisteria trees, over 30 fruit trees, and a 200ft-long water feature.
I hope that you end up doing AT LEAST one of the activities I mentioned above (because I know you won’t regret it). Remember, LIVE IN THE MOMENET. ENJOY LONDON SUMMER. MAKE THE MOST OF LIVING IN ‘THE CITY OF DREAMS’.
