Bucket List for the Final Term in London

Posted 1 hour ago

Four months left, countless things to do

The other day, I was talking to my friends when I suddenly realized something terrifying: I only have FOUR MONTHS left to finish my master’s degree. Four months. How did that happen so fast?

And honestly, that realization hit me hard. There are still so many things I want to do before leaving London, experiences I’ve talked about for months but never actually made time for. So, instead of just thinking about them, I decided to make a bucket list for my final months here. And since I know I can’t be the only one feeling this way, I thought I’d share it with you too.

1. Get out of my comfort zone

If you know me, you know I’m a really shy person. At the beginning of my master’s, I found my group of friends pretty quickly, and they became my comfort zone. We’ve had the best time together, made amazing memories, and I know those friendships will stay with me long after graduation.

But lately, I realized I’ve been playing it a little too safe. I mostly go out with the same people and rarely push myself to meet anyone new. So one thing on my bucket list is to step outside that comfort zone and actually put myself out there.

I want to attend more LSE student group events, even if I don’t know anyone there. I also discovered this app called CLIQ where people organize social events around London. There’s one group in particular called Girls in the Big City that hosts meetups, and I really want to go to one. I even found this art bar in London that organizes mingle nights, and I’m seriously considering showing up alone.

Terrifying? Absolutely.

Worth it? Probably.

2. Attend more bookish events

One thing about me: I LOVE reading.

Back home in Colombia, there aren’t that many book-related events happening all the time, but in London there are so many, and somehow I still haven’t gone to one. Which honestly feels criminal.

So this is officially my sign to change that.

Waterstones constantly hosts author talks and book events, and every time I see one online I think, “That sounds so fun”… and then never go. Not anymore. There are also lots of independent libraries and bookstores that organize themed events every month.

For example, I recently discovered Saucy Books, which is basically heaven for romance readers. They host monthly events that look SO cute, and I’m determined to finally attend one before I leave.

So if you’re also a book lover, consider this your sign too.

3. Food, food, and more food

One thing London will never run out of is food options.

Okay, maybe traditional British food isn’t exactly life-changing, but the international food scene here is incredible. You can literally try food from almost every country in the world without leaving the city, and I want to take full advantage of that before I go.

First on my list: Borough Market. Yes, I know… I still haven’t been. Please don’t judge me. But I NEED to try the famous Black Pig sandwich everyone talks about.

Also, as a self-proclaimed cookie enthusiast, I’ve decided I’m doing a London cookie road trip. My list currently includes:

● Floozie Cookies

● Blondies Kitchen

● Crème

4. Theater nights

I LOVE theater, and although I’ve seen a few shows while living here, there are still so many I want to experience before leaving London.

Especially during summer, there are open-air theaters that look absolutely magical. Watching a show outside on a warm evening in London sounds like the main-character experience I deserve after surviving this degree.

And yes, I also really want to go see Magic Mike Live with my friends. Listen… the show only exists in places like Las Vegas, New York City, and London. I have to take advantage of the opportunity.

5. Day trips

One of my favorite things about living in the UK is how easy it is to escape the city for a day.

I’ve already visited Bath and Oxford, but now that summer is approaching, I really want to explore the coast.

I keep seeing photos of places like Brighton, Broadstairs, Margate, and Seven Sisters, and they all look so beautiful during the summer.

The best part is that most of them are only about an hour from London, which makes them perfect for spontaneous day trips. Leave in the morning, spend the day by the sea, come back in the evening, all while the sun is still out at 8 p.m. Honestly, that sounds perfect.

There are only FOUR MONTHS left. Four months before deadlines, graduation, moving out, saying goodbye, and starting completely new chapters of our lives.

So if there’s something you’ve been wanting to do before finishing your master’s, this is your sign. Whether it’s traveling somewhere new, meeting people, trying new food, going to events, or simply saying yes more often… do it now.

Make your bucket list.

And actually go live it.
