Now that everyone is settled in their new home in Rosebery Hall and getting a hang of life in LSE, the question naturally arises that "Where and when can we play some football?".
In previous years one of the most popular activities for residents of Rosebery is playing football. Whether you're a seasoned football enthusiast or just looking for a fun way to spend your time outdoors, the football scene at Rosebery Hall has something for everyone.
Rosebery Hall is located near several green spaces and parks, making it an ideal spot for a game of football. There are three pitches around the hall, a couple minutes away, where Rosebery residents have enjoyed regular games of football in the past.
- The first is right next door, by the Spa Green Garden, You may have seen players play here in the evening and schoolchildren playing here in the afternoon. This is run by Go Mammoth, who organizes local Men's and mixed 5-a-side leagues all over London. Starting from 7 pounds a week per person, you can join this league as an individual, in a small group or as a team of up to 8 players. Players of all skill levels are welcome. - What makes playing football near Rosebery Hall truly special is the football community in Rosebery itself. You'll find students (and Subwardens!) from all backgrounds coming together for a shared love of the sport. We come together and play once or twice a week trying to foster a welcoming environment for newcomers and seasoned players alike. It's not uncommon to see students and residents enjoying a game after a long week of studying. There are two free spaces to play Futsal: The tennis court in Spa Fields and a small concrete pitch next to the Islington Museum. Both are open in the day, completely free, require no booking, and are a stone's throw away from the hall. We have a WhatsApp group for all residents interested in playing football, and as long as we have 10 or so people up to play football, we head to one of the nearby pitches. All students are welcome to join. The warden team in Rosebery Hall will host football-related activities and events but interested students tend to always be up for impromptu matches or casual kickabouts regardless.
