Practicing the Art of Kindness
Kindness is an act that has a profound impact on your surroundings. We all remember the kind acts that have impacted us through time, whether it is a simple one or a hand reaching out in times of desperate need. Random acts of kindness are good for the soul. Here are a few things you can do as a student at the LSE to practice kindness:
- Working with LSE's Volunteering Centre: LSE's Volunteering Centre always runs charity events for communities and individuals who need your help. Signing up and contributing is a kind act, and it's a great place to meet and relax with your fellow students and peers. Find out more about the Volunteer Centre here.
- Volunteering Fair on Campus: The LSE Volunteering Centre organises a volunteering Fair every term for all students to attend. Various organisations participate in this fair, which is a great way to make new friends while giving back to society. The Volunteering Centre's Instagram Page regularly updates on the several volunteering fairs on campus.
- Organising Bake Sales: This is a great way to raise money for various causes. Who doesn't like some cake? A fun activity that involves the indulgence of sweet treats, friends, and happy stomachs, bake sales are an amazing act of kindness.
- Donating Items: We LSE students may come from privileged backgrounds that helped us pursue our dreams. It would be nice to donate items we do not use or have excess of to those who can use them to pursue their dreams! ActionAid, British Heart Foundation, and Unicef UK are some of the notable charities that accept donations!
- Attending Charity Drives: London has multiple charity drives that are open for all to attend. Charities are usually understaffed and would love the help! You can find links to such drives on event sites such as Eventbrite where you can register your interest.
