Looking to meet new people with the same interests?

Joining a university society has so many benefits!

Here at LSE, the sky is the limit when it comes to student societies. We have over 200 groups with thousands of students who are always happy to welcome new members.

Whether you want to learn another subject alongside your studies or do something completely random, there should be something for everyone. If not, you could always create your own with the help of specialist staff that can get it up and running.

Benefits of joining LSESU societies:

1. Meet new people

Sometimes it can be difficult to make friends as soon as you get to university, going up to someone you don't know and starting a conversation can be nerve-wracking. Societies make it a lot easier to interact with others that have similar interests and make some great memories in the process - who knows, you might meet friends for life!

2. Take a break from your studies

We know that you'll be working hard during your time with us but make sure you balance your workload with a bit of fun. Societies are a great way to take a break from your studies and let off some steam with others going through the same experience.

3. Learn new skills and enhance your CV

Having an extra-curricular society on your CV not only shows that you're sociable but also highlights other skills you can gain from taking part, including teamwork, time management, event planning and much more. This can really make you stand out to employers!

4. Find new hobbies

Looking to try something new? This is your chance. From politics and religion to dance and drama, there are so many things you can try out during your time as a student that you might not have access to when you leave. So give them a go while you can.

5. Boost your physical and mental health

Instead of paying a fortune for the gym, why not join one of our many incredible sports societies? All you have to do is pay a small membership fee and you're ready to go. Taking some time away from your computer screen and focusing on something you like is also a great way to boost your mood and improve your mental wellbeing.

University societies aren't just beneficial to your career development but they're a great way of enhancing your personal development and social life - so it's definitely worth it for all of the benefits (and fun!)
