Every year, an estimated 160 billion paper cups end up in landfill. Although they look recyclable, most contain a thin plastic lining that prevents them from being processed through standard recycling systems. The result is a huge amount of unnecessary waste.
Carr‑Saunders is introducing a new reusable cup system at in‑hall events, events such as Sunday Chills, Halloween celebrations, Christmas parties, and other social gatherings will introduce a closed-loop system using durable, washable cups that circulate entirely within the hall.
Instead of receiving a disposable cup when you attend participating events, you will be handed a reusable one.
After enjoying your drink, simply return the cup to one of several designated drop‑off points. From there, the catering team will take over, washing, storing, and preparing the cups for future events.
To make the system easy and intuitive, multiple return stations will be placed throughout the building, including:
- Dining Room
- Common Room
- Reception Area
Keep an eye out for the pilot launch at our next Sunday Brunch and help us shape a greener future for Carr‑Saunders.
