...you’ll probably have already visited the Tate Modern, St Paul’s Cathedral and Borough Market a few times already, so you might be looking for something to see on the weekends that doesn’t involve a long trek or tube ride.
Below is a list of places you can walk to from Bankside in 20 minutes or under!
The Fashion and Textile Museum – 18 minutes’ walk
This is the “only UK museum dedicated to contemporary fashion and textile design”. Founded by Dame Zandra Rhodes, it will soon be housing works from Andy Warhol and other eminent artists and designers. The building itself is particularly distinctive too, with its vibrant geometric façade. Click here to see its current exhibitions.
Vinegar Yard – 15 minutes’ walk
A food market, vintage shop and flea market, all in one, Vinegar Yard is an eclectic space not far from Bankside. Click here to see what it has to offer!
White Cube Bermondsey – 19 minutes’ walk
Just down the road from the Fashion and Textile Museum, White Cube is a contemporary art gallery housed in a converted warehouse. Its name reflects the white cube gallery aesthetic, characterised by its square or oblong shape, expanse of white walls and crisp ceiling light sources. Click here to see what's on.
London Glassblowing – 17 minutes’ walk
An art gallery dedicated to glass, this studio offers the rare opportunity to not only view pieces from the UK’s finest studio glass artists but also watch them practise their craft in the studio, fiery furnace and all! Click here to find out more.
Bermondsey Street - 15 minutes’ walk
Even strolling along Bermondsey Street should be an attraction in itself. With its quaint shop exteriors and abundant cafes, it’s a great place to wander around!
