ResLife blogging, what's actually in it for you!

Okay so. You've seen the call for ResLife bloggers float past on social media, someone mentioned it, or you just stumbled onto this post wondering what the deal is. Here are three very good reasons why you should absolutely go for it. The real version, from someone currently doing it and loving it.
1. You get a platform to write about basically whatever you want
This is the best bit. If there is something you wish someone had told you before you got to LSE, or a perspective you feel is missing from the usual narrative, this is your space to put it out there. Mine has been writing as a Latin American student in London, which has been so much fun. Yours could be anything. There is a fresh theme every month and you get to pick how you want to spin it. Food adventures, dreamy study spots, mental health, homesickness, that one weird thing that happened on the Tube. As long as it would help or entertain another student, it probably flies. It's a blog for students by students!
2. The people are genuinely great
The blogger crew is small, which means you actually get to know each other properly instead of being one face in a huge society. There are socials. There is sometimes free food (yes, really). The ResLife team also organises some genuinely lovely stuff that ends up on their Instagram, and a lot of it really is as fun as it looks. Have a peek:
3. They pay you!
Real money. Yes, actually. Enough for a few cinema tickets, that book you keep almost buying, or whatever little treat makes a week better. For a gig where you are basically writing about your own life, that is a pretty sweet deal.
One small honest thing
Some weeks you will stare at a blank doc for a bit wondering what to say. It happens. But the deadlines are kind, the team is lovely, and by the end of the year you have a little archive of writing that is properly yours. That part is genuinely cool.
