1) Walk or cycle to the LSE

Rosebery is about a 25 minute walk from the LSE and 7 minutes by cycle. While it's possible to take the 341 bus from Hardwick Street (right across from Rosebery) to the Royal Courts of Justice stop (located on the Strand), I've found that walking is a lovely way to start the day and an easy way to save money. On Tuesdays, use the Unidays app to get a small $2 drink from the Starbucks on High Holborn, which is right on the way to campus.

I purchased an annual Santander Cycle subscription for £90 (student price) which was super convenient since there is a cycle stand right across from Rosebery and plenty near the LSE campus. If you have your own bicycle Rosebery Hall has a bike shed and the LSE campus has multiple cycle storage facilities. 

2) Study at Sweet or Briki

Sweet Boulangerie & Patisserie and Briki are two coffee shops located in Exmouth Market, just a two minute walk from Rosebery. Both offer free internet and have a delicious selection of pastries. Briki is known for their Greek pastries and stays open until 8:45pm. My favorite item at Sweet is the chocolate almond croissant. Sweet also regularly posts on Too Good To Go - I got a selection of pastries, a sandwich, and pasta salad for just £3.99! 

3) Go to Angel for groceries

The closest grocery stores to Rosebery are the Co-op on Tysoe Street and the Sainsbury's Local on St. John Street, both open 7am-11pm daily. However, for a larger grocery shop I recommend going to Angel where there is a Sainsbury's Superstore (much more selection and cheaper prices than Sainsbury's Local), Marks & Spencer, Waitrose & Partners, Oseyo (an Asian grocery store), and Whole Foods a little further down. Sainsbury's tends to have the cheapest prices and best selection of items.  

4) Attend Halls Life Welcome Week events

Since the majority of people living in Rosebery are first years and study abroad students, everyone is looking to make friends. Welcome Week is the easiest time to meet people so be sure to go to the Rosebery welcome events and don't be afraid to make introductions during meal times or start a game of cards in the common area. 

5) Choose between Myddelton or Rosebery Wing

Rosebery Hall is divided into two wings: Myddelton and Rosebery. The Rosebery Wing is more recently renovated and has hard wood floor while the Myddelton rooms are slightly larger and have dark blue carpets. I had a large single on the 7th floor of Myddelton which had two windows and lots of light. However, some of the singles on the ground floor felt stuffy and dark.
