My Student Tips for Living at Robeson House
1. Explore the neighborhood🏘️
During term-time, it can be easy to forget that there is so much to explore and do in Southeast London when you’re spending most of your time on campus. Between Old Kent Road and Peckham, there is a plethora of cuisines to try, from Caribbean to East African to Southeast Asian, many within affordable price ranges.
2. Utilize the terraces and garden spaces🪴
One thing I regret not doing enough while living at Robeson is taking advantage of the outdoor amenities. It was always great hanging out in the garden or watching the sunset from the 10th-floor terrace.
3. Try the gym membership🏋️
While it may not be as large as the main gyms on campus, it is a nice alternative if you don’t want to commute to campus to work out. You can purchase a 1-month pass to try it out and see if it’s a fit for you - and the best part is it’s 24/7!🙂↕️
4. Frequent the shared spaces🤩
I made many of my friends at Robeson House in the shared spaces! Whether it was in the lobby, the cinema rooms, or the common room, you will always find someone to connect with. It’s easy to forget that Robeson House is the largest postgraduate-only hall with over 600 students, and most of us are only here for a year. There are so many people to meet, and visiting the shared spaces and attending hall events is the best way to build lasting friendships!
