What to use, When to use it

When you start at LSE, there are loads of things happening around you, right from Welcome week and freshers parties to lectures and a whole new city to explore. I know, I totally get it! 

Even when you come back to your hall, the overwhelm doesn’t end, because now you’ve got to decide what to cook. Agh, I know. Now, while I can't boil your pasta for you, I CAN give you a comprehensive guide on how to stay in the loop with everything going on in halls at all times! 😊

Give me 5 minutes, and I'll simplify what the different streams of communication mean! 📲

There are four main ways to stay connected to everything Halls Life: WhatsApp, Emails, Instagram, and the Halls Life website. Let’s dive a little deeper into each one. 👀

WhatsApp: For Instant Updates and Connecting with Hallmates 💬

Each LSE hall has its own dedicated WhatsApp Community, where you can interact with fellow residents. It's also the official channel where the ResLife team shares updates on what’s new, like blog posts and exciting opportunities (hi, ResLife roles!). This group is also where your hall committee will send updates about the fun and exciting events they’re planning, from pizza nights to movie marathons. 🍕

Within each community, there’s a ResLife Announcements Channel, which functions like a real-time bulletin board, keeping all the important stuff in one scroll-friendly place (and we love a good scroll, don’t we?). 📲

Every month, you’ll receive a ResLife newsletter straight to your LSE inbox. These newsletters are vibrant and informative, with updates on ResLife activities, upcoming events, trips, and more. (Last year, we went to Edinburgh and I found out through the newsletter, just saying!) 🏞️

Quick tip: I know it’s tempting to skip emails, but I promise these are short, easy to read and genuinely worth your time. Keep an eye out for comms from your Halls Reception Teams, Wardens, the Accommodation Office and Sustainability Teams too, as they’ll often share useful updates, reminders and opportunities you won’t want to miss.

Instagram: Student Life Reels and Vlogs 📸

We all scroll on Instagram, so why not follow @lsereslife too? Their feed is filled with entertaining takes by students on how they live they survive LSE, and live in London. From vlogs and event recaps to day-in-the-life reels, interactive stories, and handy tips on navigating London, there is something for everyone! 📹 From seasonal challenges like the 12 Days of ResLife to posts about the best study spots or budget food hauls, it’s fun, vibrant, and super relatable. 📚

Halls Life Website: The Ultimate Resource Hub 🌐

Of course, no conversation about Halls Communications is complete without the Halls Life website. This beautifully curated platform is your one-stop hub for everything halls-related, which you can browse at your own pace. 🛋️

Use the handy search feature to find whatever you need quickly. Here's what you’ll find: 🔍

• 📚 Student-written blogs on budgeting, travel tips, food recs, study hacks and more 🧳
• 🏠 Content specific to your hall, including intros to your Warden, Subwardens, and Hall Committee 🧑‍🏫
