This list is a compilation of some fan favourites and some lesser-known places. Whether you prefer classic milk tea, refreshing fruit tea, or something more unique, these spots are worth checking out!
1. T4
First on the list is probably the most well-known: T4. Located very close to campus on Strand, T4 has an extensive menu where anyone can find something they like, from fruit teas to milk teas and even coffee! On Wednesdays, you can get a coffee drink for just £2 through the UNiDAYS app. On other days, there is a 10% UNiDAYS discount on bubble tea and matcha drinks. Additionally, if you download the T4 app, you can sign up for their loyalty scheme and gain access to more offers.
My recommendation at T4: Jasmin Green Milk Tea with pearl
Price range (without special discounts): £3.3 - £6.3
2. Truedan
If you love brown sugar bubble tea, Truedan is the place to go, as it specialises in brown sugar tapioca drinks. I would highly recommend their brown sugar milk tea - it’s the perfect sweet treat after a long day of studying. Truedan is just a 5-minute walk from campus and sometimes offers buy-one-get-one-free promotions on specific drinks, either in-store or through Uber Eats.
Price range (without special discounts): £5.0 - £6.4
3. PÜRCHA
You may have walked past PÜRCHA many times on your way to campus. They don’t just serve bubble tea—they also offer food such as fried chicken and popcorn chicken. They also have seating inside the store so you can enjoy your bubble tea comfortably, may I add, they also have a great music selection. Plus, if you’re in a hurry, you can use their app to order in advance and pick up your drink at the store.
My recommendation at PÜRCHA: Assamazing. The tea is is fragrant and refreshing and it comes with boba pearls and white agar pearls for added sweetness.
Price range (without special discounts): £3.4 - £5.8
4. Heytea
Heytea is a very popular chain, and we’re lucky to have a store near campus that opened just last year. They are famous for their fruit teas, and I highly recommend their mango grapefruit sago drink as it is the perfect balance of fruity, sweet, and slightly milky flavours. If you are a matcha lover, they also offer a great variety of matcha drinks to satisfy your matcha cravings.
Price range (without special discounts): £3.5 - £6.5
5. Gong Cha
Another classic bubble tea shop is Gong Cha. It is conveniently located in Covent Garden, so you can grab a bubble tea while strolling around and doing some window shopping. They currently have an exclusive offer for February, where you can get one of their signature drinks for just £2! For more details, check their official Instagram account.
My recommendation at Gong Cha: Earl Grey Fresh Milk Tea with pearls
Price range (without special discounts): £4.5 - £6.3
6. Nuttea
If you are vegan or simply interested in plant-based bubble tea, Nuttea is a must-visit. Although it’s located in Soho, it’s still just a 20-minute walk from campus. They have many interesting flavours on their menu which are hard to find at other bubble tea shops such as Banana Oatmeal Nut Mylk and Quinoa & Oatmeal Nut Mylk Tea.
My recommendation at Nuttea: Brown Sugar Jelly Nut Mylk Tea
Price range (without special discounts): £4.6 - £6.8
My personal favourite from this list is PÜRCHA, mainly because of their Assamazing milk tea, which has a strong and fragrant tea flavour while being just sweet enough. However, if that’s not to your taste, there’s definitely a store on this list that will suit your preferences. I hope you get the chance to explore more bubble tea spots near campus and find your personal favourite!
