Make change, meet people & boost your CV sustainably

Did you know LSE has the longest-running Green Impact programme in the world? Whether you’re a student or staff member, there’s a fun, rewarding way for you to get involved in sustainability on campus.

What is Green Impact?

Green Impact is LSE’s sustainability engagement programme, coordinated by the Sustainability Team and the charity Students Organising for Sustainability. It’s all about making meaningful change together – one small action at a time.

The programme brings teams across campus together to complete sustainability-focused tasks that earn points. It’s a great way to promote greener habits, get to know your community, and make LSE a more environmentally friendly place.

How does it work?

Throughout the year, staff teams complete tasks using a digital toolkit. Tasks range from easy wins like organising a book swap, to creative challenges like running a hedgehog awareness week. Some ideas are already set out, and teams can even come up with their own!

Each task earns between 2–8 points. At the end of the year, students get involved by auditing the toolkit submissions. Based on the final score, teams are awarded a sustainability level: Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, and celebrated at LSE’s annual Celebration of Sustainability event.

How can students take part?

Become a Green Impact Auditor!
Each year, LSE recruits students to help review staff toolkits and confirm final scores. If you take part in the audit day, you’ll get:

  • A reference for your CV
  • A verified LinkedIn badge
  • A free lunch!

It’s a brilliant one-day opportunity to gain sustainability experience and meet others who care about the planet.
